African women empowerment in the digital age

Posted in Digital Economy

On march 5th, I had the pleasure to welcome a female (and male) audience in our head quarters for the first edition of the “Kaymu Women’s Day”. The theme was about “How to take your life and career to the next level while remaining feminine and fabulous”. Yes sir.

The idea here was to have a fun yet enriching day, with networking sessions, make-up and hairstyle workshops, shopping, and a seminar dedicated to “Women empowerment in the digital age”. The seminar was structured in 3 topics :

  • Online reputation: how to protect and promote your digital identity  – Candace Nkoth Bisseck
  • E-business: how to earn money online – Marcelle Siayojie, Kaymu Head of Sellers
  • Professional Development: Strategies and digital tools to take your career to the next level – Candace Nkoth Bisseck with the kind participation of Aurelien Onana, Marketing Director of Brasseries du Cameroun.

We talked about recent news, gender discrimination, networking, personal branding, job hunting strategies, online sales strategies for full-time  and part-time merchants, and so much more. It showed me how critical it is to have more concrete conversations / training sessions on the infinite ways digital economy can improve life quality and access to opportunities. Who knows, maybe #KaymuWomensDay  #1 will be the 1st episode of a cycle…

Until then, I express my deepest gratitude to the kind partners, guests, collaborators, livetweeters, but also my amazing team members who contributed to the success of this event. For more pictures and feedbacks on the events, please follow the hashthag  #KaymuWomensDay on Twitter.
