“Miracles Beyond Borders” is a series of true stories of faith and resilience from my personal journey. It begins with the account of my surreal escape from an abusive relationship in Abidjan, leading to the start of a new life and career abroad, after being accepted to ESSEC Business school in France. It is the origin story of the woman I have become and the passion that drives the work I do. This part of my story is full of twists and turns. It started like a fairy tale, turned into a nightmare, but thankfully, ended in triumph!

Abidjan captured my heart from the moment I first laid eyes on it as my plane descended from Douala. The view from my window was breathtaking – rows of coconut trees against the backdrop of a beautiful sunny day, white sand, and crystal-clear blue waters. It was love at first sight. The warmth and politeness of the passport control officers, the vibrant VGE Boulevard, the enchanting Cap Sud Mall, the heart of the business district in Le Plateau with its Manhattan-like skyline and dazzling nighttime advertisements – all left me feeling mesmerized.

Abidjan also became the place where I faced some exceptionally challenging circumstances. I thought I had found my Prince Charming in a French gentleman, but the prince I thought I had found […] appeared to be a deeply troubled individual with deceptive and violent tendencies.

As a now coach, speaker, and specialist in leadership development, Candace aims to cultivate a legacy of healthy, inclusive, and forward-thinking leaders who can bring about positive transformations within companies and society at large.

Today, Candace lives in Switzerland, where she finds joy in yoga, hiking, and hosting meaningful conversations with friends over good food.
